Supply Chain Benchmarking

Global perspectives on supply chain complexity and performance

Supply chains have never been more under pressure – or more important

How well is your supply chain performing?

During the last decade, the supply chain has emerged as a mission-critical function that can define the success or failure of an organization. And it only continues to gain in importance.

At the same time, global megatrends such as changing consumer behaviors, the rising interconnectivity of the global economy, and unexpected disruptions like the COVID-19 pandemic increase supply chain complexity.

Get the latest research and insights to help you better understand the key factors that shape this complexity, how your supply chain progresses against them, and how you can increase its performance.

Report highlights

The top 6 takeaways from the 2022 benchmarking report:

Employee onboarding

Only 7% of supply chains can onboard employees in less than a day, but half of respondents take up to 5 days to fully onboard employees, and 27% of take more than 2 weeks.

Training and onboarding of new warehouse staff still takes too long, and delays new employees from becoming fully productive.

Challenging returns

63% of North American respondents said their customers are overall satisfied with the returns process, compared to 46% of European respondents.

A streamlined returns process is essential to keeping customers happy, but many businesses are still catching up.

Prioritizing sustainability

89% of respondents say sustainability is a strategic or high priority.

Environmental sustainability is fast becoming a key concern for supply chains and requires careful execution through meaningful initiatives.

Workflow automation

Only 15% of organizations have implemented fully automated and paperless processes.

Automated workflows are one of the key factors that determine operational efficiency.

Improving facilities

Only a third of respondents use modeling and simulation software to plan facility upgrades.

Simulation software helps maximize the impact of facility improvements, but the majority are not leveraging its benefits.

Network visibility

65% of organizations do not have good visibility into their external supply chain network.

Better visibility up and down the supply chain can help many businesses identify disruptions early and prepare for them.
