Transforming the supply chain into an integrated, transparent ecosystem

Transform the supply chain into an integrated, transparent ecosystem

Technology creates an advantage in the race to Supply Chain 4.0

Supply chain complexity is increasing. To address new challenges, supply chains must become smarter, more productive and more efficient. New IT technologies and integrated supply chain solutions can help you get there, by automating processes and providing new insights to support decision-making. This will also make it easier to manage rapid change and improve scalability.

The benefits are increased visibility for all stakeholders, and reduced cost and complexity.

Getting started

Supply chains need to move quickly towards digitization. While technology is essential to digitization, it can also add complexity and fragmentation.

Supply chain software solutions, such as WMS or TMS are central to the effort of digitizing supply chains. They enable data- and system-driven workflows, increase visibility and improve task management. However, to avoid creating functional silos, systems and processes have to be integrated.

The new generation of voice, advanced robotics and warehouse automation equipment increases speed and accuracy of order fulfillment. The can also mitigate the impact of staff shortages. Integrating these technologies with the WMS and other supply chain software helps synchronize their processes and maximizes efficiencies.

Integrating software solutions and innovative technologies also allows capturing data across supply chain operations. This data is a valuable resource. It provides the basis for ML and AI that create advanced analytics, enable pro-active decision-making and better support planning efforts.

A roadmap is essential to successful digital transformation, as its maps out projects along a timeline and helps create alignment around the goals and priorities of the digitization process. Yet, a recent Gartner report suggests that more than 50% of organizations have not yet built a digitization roadmap.

About the supply chain benchmarking report

In late 2021, Körber Supply Chain commissioned international strategy consultancy Roland Berger to survey supply chain professionals across North America and Europe. Its goal was to benchmark the progress that companies are making against the six complexity factors. Based on their survey responses, respondents were grouped into four maturity levels:
